Children’s Day is a Japanese national holiday which takes place annually on May 5, the fifth day of the fifth month in Japan. It is a day set aside to respect children’s personalities and to celebrate their happiness.
Kashiwa mochi is mochi rice cakes wrapped in kashiwa (oak) leaves which are traditionally served on this day. aromatic leaves make you very happy.
Dorayaki is a type of Japanese confection which consists of two small pancake-like patties made
from kasutera usually wrapped around a filling of sweet red bean paste, but the Pudding Dorayaki
wrapped around a slice of pudding.
This is good for afternoon snack.

We tried “plain” basic sweet bean paste with mochi dumpling. In addition, they have “maccha” and “black sesame” taste. Can you see we’ve got “grown-up” size & “baby” size?

When the New Year has arrived, I’d always visit a shrine for Hatumode, and consult an oracle or get a lucky charm (amulets) each year. Of course I did so this year, too.
The lucky charms usually categorized by the area of your wish such as “prosperous business”, “successful study”, “well-being of family” and “fulfillment of love or wish for finding a partner”.

Nowadays, they have more fun sort of luck charms featuring the popular characters such as Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty or Snoopy and they are all cute. But I think that those traditional lucky charms with delicate fabrics are still very pretty.
