(500) days of Summer (gohyaku nichi no Summer)

Now (500) days of Summer is screening. Yoko and I went to see that at Hibiya chanter. Last year, one buzz word “Soshoku-danshi (erbivorous men)” was booming in Japan.

Tom (main cast) is like as Soshoku-danshi. Summer is so adorable! We agree with her decision. We want to believe destiny to meet best partner.

Sound track is so good for us. I love Smiths and Bell & Sebastian. Zooey Deschanel(as Summer) is also a member of, American indie folk band “She & Him”. I’m so interested in her works.

Yu Darvish

Do you know Yu Darvish ? He is no.1 pitcher in japanaese professional baseball. The popularity of Japanese girl is no.1,too.

I went to the stadium to watch his playing. His style is good, and he is handsome, besides. But unfortunately he married with the actress last year.

Probably he will participate in the baseball game of the Beijing Olympics as a Japanese representative. Watch on TV by all means.

Firstly this is an ad for a exclusive subdivision housing complex featuring Madonna. Its poster has also been found around Tokyo’s subways sometime ago.

TV ad

I guess they’d tried get Madonna to bring up those exclusive housing’s image, but because Madonna just does not have an air of domestic lifestyle in her, there seemed to be a little gap.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt may possibly be the most favorite celebrities among Japanese people. This is the ads by the Jeans Company “Edwin”.

Followed by the last issue (World celebrities on Japanese ads), let me introduce other Japanese ads featured by the celebrities form overseas.

The most stand-out of this category is definitively the ad by a mobile phone company “SoftBank” featuring Cameron Diaz & Brad Pitt.

The TV ad is quite simple. They are walking on the streets or dancing while talking on their mobile phones. Each version plays an old hit music (ex. The Kinks”You Really Got Me”,Olivia Newton John “Xanadu”, Swing Out Sister”Breakout” etc.) as BGM, which makes it even more impressive. Well, they are not set as lovers in the ad, by the way. (Serch “softbank” in YouTube)

The partner of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie is also appearing in a Japanese ad. She is selected for the ads of a luxury brand “INTEGRATE” from Shiseido, which is the most popular cosmetic company in the Asia region. I think the lipsticks look really good on her thick, large lips.

Many celebrities from overseas appear in the Japanese ads.

It is probably because the Japanese clients pay pretty well, and the image of celebrities from overseas would increase the brand value more than having local celebrities in Japan.
