and knew by accident that Earth Day Tokyo 2009 was held.

Sakuramochi is a variety of wagashi, or Japanese confectionery consisting of a sweet pink mochi (rice cake) and red bean paste, covered with a leaf of sakura (cherry blossom).

You can eat a sweet pink mochi with pickled sakura leaves. It tasts awesome!!

Sakura-mochi is eaten on March 3rd, Girl’s Day. The Japanese Doll’s Festival or Girl’s day (Hina-matsuri), is held on March 3, the third day of the third month. This is a day to pray for young girl’s growth and happiness.

I went to “TORINOICH” in Asakusa. “TORINOICH” is an anual festival held in many places around Tokyo in Nov. And the most famous is this one at Asakusa.

I found Hello-Kitty’s bamboo rake. A special thing on Torinoichi was “Bamboo Rake for good luck”.

A highly decorated bamboo rake was particular popular as goods to bring happiness and prosperity in business. That seemed to be contributed by Hello-Kitty’s company “Sanrio”.

Japan is also in resession time. Many people there prayed thier business success on next year.

Meiji Shrine is unbelievably extensive place with forests and some public institutions. it’s on the next to Yoyogi park. (I didn’t know this fact until now… I thought these two are on the same place!!)

it was reconstructed in 1958, this year is 50th anniversary from that. so the Shrine did the huge festival.

Closed all vehicles, in the center of Hapajuku & Omotesando! hundreds of Japanese dancers shows their cool dance on the street!

LED blinking tote-bags (8tote at Make: Tokyo Meeting 02)

 LED blinking tote-bags (8tote at Make: Tokyo Meeting 02)

This weekend we joined Make: Tokyo Meeting 02 at Tama art university. We exhibited LED blinking tote-bags like Mexican day of the dead festival. Because we are also running tote-bag brand 8tote (Japanese name “みつばちトート“).

Make:” is new type tech magazine to enjoy DIY published in US. Japanese edition team held this event. And Make:’s sister brand is “Craft:” that is featuring the newest creation of craft. We are loving “Craft:” since their birth. So we were very happy to participate in Craft:’s corner of this event.

We made our bags controlled with LilyPad Arduino (kawaii microcontroller board designed for wearables and e-textiles), we were enjoying to succeed blinking our products.
